Alpha-waves in the Music hall ”.... The ensemble primarily plays their own works and arrangements of folk music from all over the world, music with an overall improvisational touch, and besides this even free improvisations, music that has never been heard before and will never be heard again. This kind of concert is already known. The special thing about Alpha is that the music has substance. That the coincidences make sense. That attention and absolute alertness is unceasingly presented. The concert Saturday afternoon was opened by such a free improvisation. David Hildebrandt’s drum was playing around, the recorder made rhythmical overblowings, the saxophone was colouring it all. The communication was intense, affectionate, funny, intelligent and carefully measured. That is how to serve an aperitif! With its music, Alpha puts fundamental questions about the being and meaning of music. And they answer them at the same time. Perhaps foremost by drawing on the extensive experience each of them has on their instrument. But especially by showing that time does not stand still, that music is alive and always will be created in the very moment. Styles can in themselves be what they want. Each and every one of them, Bolette, Peter and David moves within many different styles. Alpha has its own style….”
